Polished Concrete Process
Achieving a premium polished concrete finish requires careful planning, the right site conditions, and precise timing at every stage. From preparing the slab and ensuring clear access and suitable power and water supplies to scheduling grinding, polishing, and sealing at the correct construction stage, our process is designed to deliver a consistent, high-quality architectural finish.
What We Require On-Site
To achieve a premium architectural finish, we require the following prior to our arrival:
Waste Disposal: ProSand bags all concrete waste. For small-scale projects, we will remove the waste from the site. For high-volume full-stone exposure projects, an on-site skip bin or designated disposal area must be provided by the client due to the sheer weight of the slurry and dust.

- Clear Access: Unhindered parking and clean, direct access to the concrete slab at all times.
- Utilities: Active water and specific electrical outlets are required on-site throughout the grinding process. We require 1 x 3-Phase power outlet (for our main planetary grinder) and 2 x separate Single Phase power outlets on dedicated circuits (for our dust extractors and edge machinery). If power is unavailable on-site, a generator hire fee will apply.
Project Timeline & Timing
- Stage 1 (The Pre-Cut): Done immediately after the slab cures, before frames or structural walls are erected. This ensures even aggregate exposure from edge to edge.
- Stage 2 (Polishing & Sealing): Done at the frame stage (or after gyprock), but strictly before skirting boards, cabinetry, or joinery are installed.
Renovations & Retrofit Floors
- Single-Stage Process: Grinding and polishing take place after structural demolition is complete, but strictly before any new skirting boards, cabinetry, joinery, or final wall painting begin.
- Edge & Aggregate Note: Because walls are already standing, some edge variations in aggregate exposure may occur around the perimeter due to machinery constraints.
