Our Outdoor Standard
• Sub-Surface Impregnation: We saturate the concrete with high-performance penetrating sealers that repel water and oils from inside the pores, without changing the look or feel of the natural concrete. Because there is no plastic film sitting on top, it can never blister, peel, or turn brown.
• Cooler Underfoot: Topical plastic sealers trap ambient heat and can get burning hot. Our natural honed surface allows the concrete to breathe, keeping your pool deck significantly cooler under the summer sun.
• Safety First: The 50-grit finish provides the ultimate slip resistance for wet areas. It’s grippy enough for wet feet around a pool, yet smooth enough to be completely comfortable for bare skin.
• Low Maintenance: No more costly chemical stripping and recoating every two years. Because the protection lives entirely inside the slab, it won’t wear away in high-traffic areas or degrade from UV exposure.
⚠️ The Truth About Honed Pool Surrounds
Due to a recent wave of new and inexperienced installers, a popular but highly flawed practice has emerged. Many operators quote cheap by doing a quick surface grind and simply slapping down cheap topical acrylic sealers or basic solvent-based surface coatings to add artificial colour and hide their rough scratches. This shortcut creates a weak plastic film that looks patchy, becomes dangerously slippery when wet, and completely suffocates the concrete slab. Under the harsh Australian sun, trapped moisture underneath rapidly heats up, causing the surface layer to blister, peel, and flake away. Within just a few months, UV rays degrade the plastic, leaving your expensive pool surround looking worn out, patchy, and brown.
